DC Studios is one step closer to creating Justice League, with actor Kyle Chandler reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming Green Lantern Lantern series.
More details on the latest superhero casting news come from Deadline, who say Chandler is currently in talks to potentially play Hal Jordan. If he were to land the role, it would be just the latest addition to the show's strong cast, which includes "Lost" and "Watchmen" creator Damon Lindelof, "Ozark" veteran Chris Mundy and DC Comics legend Tom King.
Chandler's acting career began in the late 1980s. He has since appeared in Peter Jackson's 2005 film King Kong, Escape from Tehran, Game Night, The Wolf of Wall Street, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and most recently in the Netflix film Dreamland, which the film made famous. He has also provided voice work for many animated shows over the years, including Family Guy, King of the Hill and Robot Chicken. If he's cast in DC's latest Green Lantern movie, he'll join the team alongside Nathan Fillion, who plays Guy Gardner in next year's Superman movie. Lantern aims to mark the path of Green Lantern's debut in James Gunn and Peter Safran's revamped DCU. The eight-episode Max show was announced in early 2023 and was officially confirmed in June this year. The story will focus on Hal and his Lantern Corps colleague John Stewart, which Gunn describes as "a true mystery-style mystery." Deadline said the search for Jon Stewart is "still ongoing."
Lanterns are continuously piloting the future, but there is no release date yet. Mundy was named showrunner, with Lindelof and King tapped as co-writers and executive producers. While we wait to see how DC plans to revive its Green Lantern show, read about the first appearance in the DCU reboot Biocommando, which premieres in December. The comic book universe in the movie world begins with Superman in July 2025.
